Travel Plans

As some of you know, Elyn and I have applied for retirement visas to live in Spain and the other EU countries. Well, the visas have come through and we will be leaving for Madrid this Saturday (December 27). Because our Santa Fe house hasn't sold yet, we will need to return here early in February to take care of local business. I will post about our progress on my other blog (Having Fun Until I Die), which is a hot link on the margin of this blog.

Bon Voyage

Well I certainly hope you will have fun in Europe. I surely did in my times there. I AM quite envious you know, as I wish I could do some of that traveling once more. If you go to Leredo, Spain, try the paella. I had a memorable feast there 50 years ago.

I'll keep Leredo in mind. We will certainly be traveling in the south and the paella is great there. We also have our eyes on Malta for part of the time.

We just returned from a two week tour of Germany. Visited the Christmas markets along the Rhine and Mainz rivers, and then spent a few days in Munich. Had a great time, but Gary, be sure and take lots of money. Everything is sky high there.

Yes, Dick, we are well aware of the sad state of the $ versus the euro. We will be spending time in small towns off the beaten track, where things are more reasonable. I remember my own Rhine journey many years ago. What a beautiful country.

Gary, how long will you "live" there? Sounds like fun. I'm just not a good traveler. I guess my "roots" are right here.

We plan to be in Europe for about 50 days this trip. We will get our Spanish residency during this time, then we might spend about half the time in Europe and half in the US. All that is up in the air right now. Stay tuned. I'll try to keep my other blog up to date with our travels when I have access to internet.

Happy holidays to all you CV bloggers. Keep posting and commenting--you have a loyal following of readers that is much larger than you might imagine.
