Bill's funeral

OK ex CV band members. I'm trying to recall the members who made up the brass quartet at Bill Leonard's funeral. TD sent me the date of death: November 28, 1952. I know I was second trumpet, but who were the others? Phil, were you around then? You would be my best place to start, but others may know something as well. Help, please.

Gary, I had moved to Dexter by that time.

A likely trombone name would be Nada Marlene Hess. Possibly the other trumpet could have been Tom Gordon?

Great. Thanks, Phil. Now if I could get in touch with either of those, I'd be able to run it all to ground.

Gary, two other possible names ... in case Nada Marlene wasn't the trombonist it could have been Homer Morris ... and if a baritone was part of the group it may have been Shirley (Sweaney) Brown. She still lives in Cedar Vale and most likely one of the bloggers has her email address.

Great. What about you, Don? Any info?

None at the moment Gary. I wasn't in Cedar Vale at the time as I was busy being a Vet student at K-State. I will try to find the Obituary when I can get to it. Ks. has a very good set of on-line data.

Thanks, Don. When you get the time I'd love to see any info. I have a clear memory of most of the event, but the other participants are just blanks in my mind. It's one of those niggling things that keeps coming up.

Here is the Web site for CQ Co. historical information. Although it doesn't have The obits. for Bill and Maude Leonard, it is fun to browse.

I'm trying to find the old CV Messenger for the obit.

Thanks, Don. I just put that site at the bottom of the blog page under links. I'll have a lot of fun looking at that one.
