Floyd P. Call age 94 died a week ago. He made several entries to the blog and was an avid history buff.

He was able to go to Washington DC with his son Kieth to visit the WWII memorial as part of the Kansas "flights for the greatest generation" a few months ago. His son Dwight told me Floyd would be proud to be remembered on the blog. RIP Floyd

Lloyd was a cousin of my Mom, LeNore Call Walton. I "talked" to Lloyd several times by internet about family. He was a great friend of my Grandparents, LeRoy and Alma Call. Mom talked often of the fun times she had with Lloyd as "kids" We have lost another from the Greatest Generation. I met Lloyd and his wife once, when they came to Oregon for a dairy convention and thy stopped by the farm. Our houghts and prayers are with the family....James and Donna Walton

The correct spelling of his name is Loyd. He was my mother's cousin. One year younger than she.

I read an article in the paper today that the Central Prairie Fligh program is badly in need of money to get about 150 more WWII vets flown to Washington before the die. These are Kansas residents. Contact info is phone: 620-792-6224 or www.centralprairiehonorflights.org if anyone is interested in helping them.
