FYI
It is with a great measure of sadness that I report; Wayne Woodruff was found dead in his home (In Las Cruces, NM I think)this morning. This news comes from Lesta Foster--her brother is married to Barbara Woodruff Johnson who is Wayne's sister. I know nothing more at this point, but wanted to get the news out. We certainly will miss Wayne--such a prolific and determined contributer to our CV Memories Blogsite--and my neighbor as a boy.

As I think about Wayne and his life (that I know about) I realize that all that blogging and digging into CV History is a permenant record for his family and friends, and we all know about the demons that tormented him as he told of his depression and guilt openly in his entries. RIP Buddy dfc
I never knew Wayne, except through this blog, I so enjoyed getting to know him here. I will miss Wayne, glad I got to 'meet' him.
Even though Wayne was one of my dearest friend's brother, he was a quiet presence in my childhood. I feel I only got to know him through the blog and through his sense of humor in emails we traded.
I'm so sorry he had such a shortened life and I ache for Barbara and Wayne's children and their familiies.
Wayne was one of my regular companions and playmates as a child. We started 1st grade together and Wayne was the valedictorian of our high school class. I knew him as a hard working, determined young man. We went to KU and graduated the same year. Wayne went his own way and so did I. We met again a few years ago shortly after his wife died when he came to visit us in Santa Fe. We have since maintained a somewhat regular correspondence and I'm shocked to hear of his death. Looking back over my emails I see that the last email I had from Wayne was Dec. 20. No hint there of what was to come.
Wayne, I'll miss your posting your musical finds for my enjoyment. I'll even miss the political arguments we so often had by email. And we will all miss you here on the CV blog. You certainly told your truth for all of us to see. RIP
What a jolt..... A treasure left this world to be a treasure in the next! Wayne gave the gift of himself to all of us. And, what a gift it was! And, the memory of him will be an inspiration to us in the days to come. I can see him writting a "blog from heaven," telling us of new adventures never dreamed of on this earth! We will miss you, our friend!
Addendum: Wayne will probably be WRITING me soon, correcting my spelling of that word in my previous blog!!!
Wow! I am impressed with the ability that the internet has to convey sad news.
I saw Wayne just before Christmas, and in hindsight we realize from things he said that he knew he wasn't going to be with us much longer. He said he would never go through another heart surgery, Dr.'s are poor patients. He had apparently been having chest pain, his son said there were nitro glycerin tabs by his bedside (he had gone to Ohio after Denver for Christmas). So, we assume it was a heart attack. Our dad died of the same when he was only 50, so Wayne knew he needed to take care of himself to outlast Diana.
I'll miss his free medical advice, the beautiful classical music youtube sites that he shared. He told me he should write on the blog about the time he and Bob Hays shot me with a BB gun, so he still had lots of stories to tell.
My heart is heavy, I will miss him!

We all will, Barbara. But perhaps you could share some of the stories he would have told us here on the CV blog. We would enjoy them and they would be a fitting tribute.
Send me an email at tchbth@mac.com and I'll get you on as a contributor.
I was so surprised to learn of Wayne's passing as I had just received a Happy New Year e-mail from him. He was my very best e-mail buddy and I could always count on receiving at least one or two from him almost every day and he always responded. I was just thinking about getting the group together to organize or class' 55th Anniversary and thought it would be good to try to get all the class officers to come. Wayne was our President!!!! His sense of humor was great and sometimes cutting, but I always enjoyed the banter. I feel lost when I start to send e-mails, as his was always the first one on the list. I pray that he and Diana are together again!!!!!
I was shocked when I received Waynes obituary. We had exchanged Christmas greetings and I was looking forward to his next email. Wayne offered me much encouragement during this past year. I shall miss his emails, full of humor, common sense and support. They always lifted my spirits I only hope mine helped his too.
So sorry to hear the news about wayne! I wish to send my condolences to you, Barbara, and to all the family. His contribution to the CV Blog will surely be missed. Naomi Grunden Howell
I knew Wayne slightly, as maybe the quitest one of the great generation of scholar-athletes that were seven or eight years ahead of us in school; but I've come to know him much better through this blog in the past year, and to appreciate his kindness and humor.
My deep sympathy to Barbara and all the rest of the family.
