I just heard from Donna Burch Stanton and her daughter sent me this photo of her with her grandchildren. (Now don't be angry Donna, your old classmates want to see how you look these days.) Donna was my first playmate at age 4 or 5. We were neighbors in the southwest (straight) corner of CV. Welcome, Donna. We hope to hear from you.

Donna - It is so great to see you and you've got a nice bunch of grandkids! I will always remember playing drums in the H.S. bamd as a 6th grader and getting to know you and Nadine Stanhope. You girls bcame my idols! Do you remember you used to cut my hair?
I hope you will respond and let us all know what you are doing and how you are.
As I remember, Donna's dad was Dewey Burch?? But I am trying to recall what he did. Work on the railroad?? Does anyone remember back 65 years??
Yes, Dewey Burch was the station master of the MOPAC railroad. Donna's brother also worked for the railroad.
DIANE,NICE TO HERE FROM YOU AND I'M FLATTERED THAT I WAS YOUR IDOL. I GUESS I DONT REMEMBER CUTTING YOUR HAIR, MAYBE MAYBE I DIDN'T DO TO BAD OF A JOB SINCE YOU DIDN'T KILL ME. YES I DO HAVE GRANDCHILDREN 11 ALL TOGETHER.
Phil -I'm so sorry and I hope you get over the disappointment. I'm sure someone idolized you....but I can't imagine, I mean I don't know who! (Hee, hee..)
I wanted to remind you the high school mascot was, and is, the Bronchos. The junior high were the Mustangs. Right? I know Donna was a high school cheerleaeder, but I wouldn't be surprised if she also cheered in jr. high.
Susan Alexander DeMoss was the other drummer who was in my class and we both learned a lot from Donna and Nadine. Looking back I expect they thought we were real pests, but they helped the band by helping Susan and me carry on.
We had another drummer move to C.V. a few years later. That was Mike Kunkle who had an older brother named Robin. Mike was a real character and I recently found out that a mail carrier here in Winfield is his younger brother
and we had a short visit about their family.
That is funny, Phil. I never knew any of those young men.
Diane,
I would be interested in knowing what you found out about Robin Kunkle when you talked to his younger brother. Bobin was in my class and was a nice guy. Our class has not heard much from him as far as I know.
First of all, I didn't realize there was another boy in the Kunkle family. He is in his 50's so was born quite late in the family.
I learned that both Robin and Mike moved west to California. Mike has or had a successful contracting business but if he said what Robin did for employment I don't remember. He said Robin had ad bad stroke within the last 4-5 years.
I can probably get Robin's address for you, but I'll have to remember the brother's first name! He delivers mail to my hairdresser so I'll find out in the morning; then, if you are interested you can e-mail me. Gary has all our e-mail addresses and some have voluntarily shown up in my address book.
I hope I can be of some help!
Diane,
Thanks for the info on Robin Kunkle. Sorry to hear his health may not be too good. If you do get his address, post it on CV Memories as different ones of our class might like to contact him.
I haven't heard from Robin, so can't be of any help. Yes, CVers, share what you know with the rest of us.
Speaking of the Kunkle's jogged this memory. Several years ago, probably 20-25, I had my office on the Monterey, Ca airport. A man came into my office and said, "You don't know who I am, do you". He looked strangley familiar, but I couldn"t come up with a name. He said I'm Mike Kunkle. He lived and had a busines in Carmel Valley, CA, married and had two children as I recall. He said Robin lived in San Antonio. We chatted for some time and promised to keep in touch, however that was the only contact we had. As I recall Mike was kind of "onery" in his younger days.
As I recall, Mike had a crush on my sister, or vice versa. It shows the level of their intelligence.
Hey, anonymous, why hide your identity? If you don't want to sign in, at least put your name on the comment. We don't know who your sister was and how smart or dumb Mike was without that information.
I am interested in finding an address for Mike Kunkle. He was in the class of '57, tho he did not graduate with us. When I was contacting individuals who had gone to school with us but not in our graduating class, I was interested in finding him.
Thanks Diane for sharing the address with us when you find it.
